Is Jesus into witchcraft? (or Yvetta, QSA, or Holly?)

**mild book spoilers warning. though this plot was discussed at comic-con**

Jesus=Hallow?

(Jesus wears the magical color of purple and purple spells are often used to manipulate others/maintain control)

Normally I avoid book connections but it has been established at Comic-Con we are getting this storyline.

Isn’t Hallow supposed to be a female? Maybe not on True Blood. As we know Alan Ball combines characters and changes them around (Tara was white in the books for instance and not as close to Sookie). Why not make the equivalent of Hallow a gay male?  He would obviously still be attracted to Eric if it came down to that thing about blood and sex in the books though I doubt that will necessarily be the case on True Blood.

Remember that Lafayette was skeptical to trust Jesus and even called him out as a “satan in a sunday hat” like he correctly pointed out about Eggs: All of this before they KISSED:

Could Jesus have cast a spell on Lafayette through his kiss?

Why target Lafayette? Isn’t “Hallow” supposed to be after Eric? True but Lafayette is an associate of Eric’s and if Hallow is interested in the V at all and Eric..then why not go after a V dealer working for Eric.

Obviously he is into magic and superstitious with his talk of Chango and Elegua and making offerings to them (which shows he has non-traditional beliefs) and he is from, Catemaco, which is known for associations with witchcraft. This is an example of witchcraft in Catemaco: http://www.catemaco.info/brujos/index.html

Jesus is clearly a thinker and he is crafty. He had the foresight to sneak up on the Hotshot rednecks and steal a weapon (the bat)  rather than just charge out there like Lafayette.

(the only problem with this theory is Jesus’s reaction to Lafayette selling V. However, spoilers for later episodes reveal that Lafayette and Jesus begin “spiritually” using V together so maybe Jesus starts to connect  V to his “magical” side and craves more and it wasn’t planned out from the get go or maybe it was all an act )

In the promo 3×08 (“Night on the Sun”) we hear Laffy’s mom refer to “powers” that Laffayete supposedly has and Jesus could be out to get these powers (Sunnynala helped me remember this)

In the comments section below, my reader Artemis pointed out this spoiler from 3×10 (Jesus’s last episode this season), “The show is casting a Mexican Husband and Wife, described as a young couple in their 20′s, and a Mexican Woman around 65-70. The actors must be fluent in Spanish and deliver a small chant in Spanish.” Artemis also said this: He did seem genuinely freaked out about Lafayette dealing V but later he gets intrigued and does try some in episode 3.10 . [Artemis’s] theory is that something must have happened to him as a result of trying V, and his mother goes after Lafayette and subsequently Eric for selling the V that killed him? Artemis continues with this:Just thought of something else that supports my theory above. In the novels, the spell that Hallow casts on Eric that causes his amnesia is called “Loss”. Perhaps on the show, Hallow casts the amnesia spell in retribution for the loss of her son?

Or Jesus could just be a minion sent by Hallow to get information from Laffy or was hired.

————————————————————————————————

Other real possibilities include the most discussed one and the most obvious, Yvetta.

She came out of nowhere and seems rather exotic to be walking up to some random vampire bar in Shereveport looking for work as an exotic dancer when someone so exotic and frankly hot could be making thousands a night in Las Vegas or something. She also seems to be very interested in sex with vampires  but who wouldn’t be if your choices were Eric and Pam, just saying haha? Despite this sex, we have seen no blood exchanged on either end.

Yvetta did get a weird look or what seemed like an “Oh shit” look on her face when the magister and QSA walked in and we know she will be coming back later on the season  (that could just mean she is the spy for the authority though I doubt they would  or she could be working for QSA).

It could also be a coincidence or she could be working be in a coven for QSA if QSA is a witch (which has also been discussed as much as Yvetta being Hallow on some blogs/boards):

QSA’s Ludis claimed she used magic even to win Yahtzee and she  has no qualms selling V so she might be giving it to members of her coven if she has one and using it in rituals. She will certainly have a grudge against Eric but why not use her magic to help her finances?!

Holly, a new character coming on next week,  is a good wiccan in the books though the show might be different or maybe not, it is really hard to say at this point what she is all about. I cannot discuss her character so much now because she isn’t on yet.

Yvetta and the queen have been extensively discussed. However, I decided to cover the less discussed Jesus and also because I think there is a stronger amount of evidence suggesting his direct involvement with magic.

Maybe all of these people are involved in Eric’s future amnesia, involved in magic or are simply rats (especially when it comes to Yvetta and Jesus)!

You could be right TTB! I have been thinking that myself, possibly Jesus could be Hollow! The fact that he’s from Catemaco, his superstisious words and awe for the gods, the purple shirt. And he’s very confident, quick to think and smart so I would think he is a strong witch.
I don’t think his mission would be to have sex with Eric or take % in his business in Fangtasia like in SSN. This would be more about blood and power, threaten maybe something or someone in Erics life.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Yvette and Jesus were working together in coven under the orders of QSA.

I’m with you about the Hallow not being about wanting to boink Eric or take % of Fangtasia. IMHO, that explanation is been kinda lame in SSN. AB has stayed away from the most of the cheese and lameness of the books so far, and he will surprise us with something far more interesting.

      • #3 by talktrueblood on August 6, 2010 - 3:33 pm

Yeah, that is why I left open the possibilities for that storyline but I seriously doubt that is where they will go with it on True Blood too…which makes it even more likely that the equivalent of “Hallow” could be anybody.

    • #4 by talktrueblood on August 6, 2010 - 3:38 pm

Oh yeah, like I told Zimwee I explored the possibilties of the SSN storyline regarding “hallow” although I am very aware that they could go a much more interesting place to explain Eric’s amnesia…which leaves open further possibilities for who will be the True Blood “hallow”

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised either which is why I came to the conclusion that maybe they are ALL in on this or some and not others. Clearly all of these people are rats (spies) or will be seeking V or some kinda vengeance. All of them all some major suspicions….it it just that I think Jesus is the most suspicious regarding magic itself right now. Plus Jesus has all of those big character traits which I pointed out.

I agree that Jesus is definitely sent by Hallow and the witches. He may be Hallow’s son, since he talked about being from Catemaco and his mother dragging him around the world. He did seem genuinely freaked out about Lafayette dealing V but later he gets intrigued and does try some in episode 3.10 (which is apparently the last episode he appears in this season). My theory is that something must have happened to him as a result of trying V, and his mother goes after Lafayette and subsequently Eric for selling the V that killed him? From the casting calls for episode 3.10, a Mexican couple in their 20s and a Mexican woman around 65-70 will appear in that episode. Perhaps Hallow and her coven?

“The show is casting a Mexican Husband and Wife, described as a young couple in their 20′s, and a Mexican Woman around 65-70. The actors must be fluent in Spanish and deliver a small chant in Spanish.”

        Holy Crap to both posts!!

VERY NICE thoughts on the subject Artemis! I think I should add your idea NOW and give you the credit for it regarding Jesus’s possible motivations or further connections according to this idea.
I remembered that casting call but somehow it had escaped my mind.

        Thanks, TTB! 😀

        No, thank you : )

Jesus getting freaked out by the V could be a ruse to convince Laffy that he’s a good guy, just like the bullshit sanctimony Bill has pulled with Sookie.

when he tried to convince Laffy to blindly make offerings to the idols and not telling him the possible consequences of calling on that kind of energy, I knew he was up to no good. I think he knows from his association with Ruby Jean that Laffy has ‘powers’ and he’s out to use Laffy to ‘bring forth’ some kind of entity, perhaps?

    • #12 by talktrueblood on August 6, 2010 - 3:42 pm

Oh yeah I completely agree which is why I left open the possibility that the entire thing way an act.

Oh yeah I agree that was rather suspicious myself. Also, I agree about the Ruby Jean thing. I think I meant to add Ruby Jean’s comments and it slipped my mind. I think I will do that now.

      • #13 by Enjoying on August 6, 2010 - 9:28 pm

Yes I think that Ruby Jean is trying to tell Laffy that there coming for him. Laffy will have lot power and I think Jesus is not a good guy at all .He there find out what all going on with Laffy how much Laffy knows ….About who and what Laffy father was.

      • #14 by talktrueblood on August 7, 2010 - 2:21 am

Once again, the unreliable narrator is the one telling the truth.

I am wondering how much he will reveal about Laffy that we don’t even know too.

  4. #15 by Enjoying on August 7, 2010 - 4:19 am

Laffy has a lot power .
I talk little on AP about the
    Father Issue
    Laffy
    Tara
    Jason
    Sookie
    Sam
    Holt
Arlene she kept trying to replace her father

    • #16 by talktrueblood on August 7, 2010 - 4:43 pm

That is true. That is one definite them I haven’t considered as much as some of the other themes….hmmm

  5. #17 by Skarlove on August 7, 2010 - 4:30 pm

This is great, TTB. I am dying to find out what powers Laffy has been harboring, and how Ruby Jean and Jesus are going to help him tap in – by good intentions AND bad. I also like the idea Artemis mentioned re: Jesus as Hallow’s son.

    • #18 by talktrueblood on August 7, 2010 - 5:29 pm

I cannot wait to find out the “darkness” that Laffy and Tara possess and I think it goes beyond simple rage for their situations.

Jesus could be Hallow’s son or Hallow’s brother (she did have one in the books).
The Hallow’s son idea does connect with Artemis’s idea and that would be quite interesting.

Has anyone else noticed how Yvetta is truly an awful pole dancer? I don’t buy for a minute that stripper/pole dancing is her profession….

    • #20 by talktrueblood on August 8, 2010 - 3:05 am

Yeah, you think that she could be doing a much better job than that, no wonder Eric was bored haha!
What made you notice that the most?
She never actually clings to the pole…that I do notice…

      • #21 by Osterby on August 8, 2010 - 1:56 pm

LMAO….Yes Eric looks bored. No wonder he is day(night) dreaming about Sookie. Not that I am a pole dance critic or anything…but for someone who was hired as a dancer…she never quite dances.

      • #22 by talktrueblood on August 8, 2010 - 4:11 pm

I get it…it’s a blonde telepathic fairy that slings beers vs. a generic foreign fangbanger pole dancer. I don’t go into strip clubs enough to say one way or the other too haha. Maybe that is one of the many fringe benefits of having sex with Eric and Pam (although I would say that is quite a fringe benefit on it’s own) is not actually having to be a good pole dancer haha.

  7. #23 by darkvisions on August 14, 2010 - 6:29 pm

    Great theories, guys.

I’ve also thought about Hallow being Jesus (casting a spell to change herself into a man), just so she can earn Lafy’s trust that way. Either way I’m pretty sure Jesus is up to no good, and is possibly using magic to make LaLa, fall for him.

But, are we sure that there is no more Jesus after episode 10? I’m only asking because it seems he will be in the season finale.

    • #24 by talktrueblood on August 15, 2010 - 12:50 am

      Thanks for stopping by.

Maybe he is in the finale too but it’s important so they are trying to cover it up now.
